Swaddling may provide comfort to grizzly babies and may help develop more settled sleep patterns. However when swaddling, extra care should be taken to ensure baby is safe and to allow healthy hip development.
- Always allow room around the hip for movement.
- Wrap the upper body firmly, but not tightly.
- The tip is to use a large lightweight muslin cloth which allows more room for the lower body and makes it easier to tuck the bottom end of the cloth behind the baby, so that the weight of the baby can hold the cloth firmly in place.
Remember to stop swaddling once your baby can roll from back to tummy and never put a swaddled baby to sleep on their stomach.
